Founding Ministry

Maranatha Fellowship (formerly "Calvary Chapel of Omaha") began as an outreach ministry of Calvary Chapel North Phoenix in 1984. Pastor Steve Johnson taught a small group Bible study which eventually grew to become a congregation of faith in mid-town Omaha. In 2002, the church purchased the former Pilgrim Lutheran church building in Bellevue.

Taken directly from the Scriptures, the name "Maranatha" literally means "The Lord is coming", reflecting the church's firm belief and expectancy of the imminent return of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Maranatha Fellowship has extended its ministry into many of the surrounding small communities, hosting Bible studies in Auburn, Tarkio, Clarinda, Malvern, Nebraska City, and Hamburg at various times in its history. The vision to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ into neighboring communities has been enhanced by the addition of Living Water Radio, KHLW 89.3FM (Tabor, IA).

A non-denominational church, Maranatha Fellowship welcomes believers of all ages, ethnicities and church backgrounds to join them for Spirit-led worship and solid, verse-by-verse Bible teaching
. Services are available at 10:30am Sunday mornings or 7:00pm Wednesday evenings.
